Studio mode
Record a clean tab with the cursor and webcam kept as separate layers, so you can restyle them afterwards. If you open another page, 7Frames pauses and offers a Resume pill on the next page.
- Records just the page, with no browser frame, and draws a smooth live pointer while you record.
- Your webcam is saved as its own track, so you can move, resize or hide the bubble later.
- Annotation tools work while you record, and the screen share stops the moment you press Stop.
- Off by default. Switch it on in the recording setup. It needs Chrome 132 or newer.
Resume after navigation
Open a link or reload in the middle of a recording and 7Frames parks the take instead of ending it. Press Resume on the next page and confirm Chrome’s share prompt to carry on.
- Pick Resume recording, Finish and save, or Discard from the pill on the next page.
- Chrome asks you to share the tab again each time you resume.
- Every part is joined into one recording with a single timeline, cursor track and zoom track.
- If the tab is closed, the take is saved for you, never lost.
- Your plan’s recording limit counts the time you already recorded.
Survives page reloads
Refreshing the page during a normal tab recording no longer loses the recording bar or the webcam bubble.
Zoom and motion
Auto zoom you can edit
The camera eases in on your clicks with smooth spring motion. Every zoom shows on the timeline, so you can move, resize or remove it.
- Each zoom can be Smart, Follow cursor or stay on a Fixed point.
- Choose a feel (Smooth or Snappy), a speed, and a default depth from Subtle to Strong.
- Turn any single zoom on or off, or regenerate suggestions from your clicks in one press.
Motion that feels physical
The camera and cursor move on spring physics, so zooms ease in and settle instead of snapping.
- Preview, scrubbing and export all use the same math, so what you see is what you export.
- Optional motion blur on fast moves when you export.
Cursor and clicks
Cursor styles
Choose from seven pointer styles, make it up to four times bigger, and tune how smoothly it glides.
- Classic, Bold, Midnight, Outline, Accent, Dot and Ring, shown as a gallery with live previews.
- Size from 0.5× to 4×, and a Smoothness slider from Off to floaty.
- Squash on click, a little sway on fast moves, and hide when idle are one switch each.
Click effects
Highlight every click with a Ring, Pulse or Spotlight, in your own colour and size.
- Works on Studio recordings and on normal tab recordings.
- Pick a swatch or any colour, and a Small, Medium or Large effect.
Webcam and frame
Webcam layer
Restyle the webcam bubble after you record: Clean, Glow or Soft, circle, rounded or square, any size, any corner.
- Glow and Soft start as the look you recorded with. Border, shadow and mirror are one switch each, and you can hide the bubble.
- The bubble shrinks a little while the camera is zoomed in, so it never crowds the shot.
Studio frame
Place your recording on a wallpaper, gradient, solid colour or your own image, with rounded corners and a soft shadow.
- Aspect presets reshape the frame for social and presentation formats.
- The preview and the export are painted by the same renderer, so they always match.
Speed and export
Speed regions
Speed up the slow parts or slow down the important ones, right on the timeline.
- One press on Speed up idle parts finds the quiet stretches for you.
- Drag a region’s edges to resize it. The rest of the timeline holds still until you let go.
- Audio follows the speed, or mute it for a region.
Faster exports
MP4 export uses your graphics hardware where it can, and shows its progress inside the button.
- The video is written out as it is encoded, instead of being held in memory.
- Falls back to the classic exporter on machines without hardware encoding.
Export your way
Export the edited video or a GIF with the cursor, zoom and webcam included, or download a plain MP4.
- Cloud uploads of a Studio recording render the same edited video.
- Editing is free. Exporting the edited video or a GIF is a Pro feature, with a free trial.
Review and editing
Edits autosave
Your edits are saved as you work and are waiting when you reopen the recording.
Full screen preview
Full screen in Review now keeps the webcam bubble, cursor and captions in the picture.
- Fitted to the recording’s own shape, with black bars instead of cropping.
Sticky preview
The video stays in view while you scroll through the editing panel.
Arrows attach to text boxes
Drag an arrow onto a text box and it sticks, then follows the box when you move it or change its text, just like it does with shapes.
Fixes and speed
Plan limits match the plans
Bug report ZIP export is a Pro feature, and applying automatic redactions spends the redaction trial, as the plans describe. Three settings that did nothing were removed.
Lighter background worker
The extension’s background worker no longer loads editor code it never uses, so it wakes faster.
Exports that stopped after a second
Fixed long and Studio recordings that exported only their first second.
Zoom and webcam in Studio exports
Exports of Studio recordings now include the zooms and the webcam, matching the preview.
Captions
Fixed the “chrome is not defined” error that stopped transcription from starting.
